Underwater Photogrammetry

Photogrammetry is a technic to model objects in three dimensions (3D) from photographs. The widespread availability of high-resolution digital photography combined with the astonishing power of personal computers make photogrammetry accessible to enthusiasts. When used underwater, it effectively removes water surrounding the modelled object. This produces unparalleled view points, especially in reduced visibility, making it a fantastic way to share our passion. The presentation begins with an overview of the technique and its applications such as dive site documentation, as a measurement too and as a sensational visualization. Then, it introduces the 3D modelling process and covers the required skills, the equipment necessary for creating models and basic notions for capturing images for underwater photogrammetry.
