SUMMARY:DPV Diver 1 with Steve B.
DESCRIPTION:WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?\n\n\n\nBeing a diver means exploring new underwater territories\, and with an underwater scooter (Diver Propulsion Vehicle – DPV) the exploration range can expand even further. Riding a scooter is not only fun\, but it also allows divers to cover more distance with less effort\, even carrying extra gear. \nGUE’s DPV Level 1 course is designed to introduce divers to the skills and knowledge required to safely use Underwater Propulsion Vehicles (DPV) in open water environments. \nWHO IS IT FOR?\n\nThis course is essential for anyone interested in utilizing one of the most fun and efficient tools available to divers to cover bigger distances or carry more equipment with reduced effort. \n\nWHAT WILL I LEARN?\nCourse outcomes include\, but are not limited to: basic principles of DPV diving\, dive planning\, teamwork while using a DPV\, environmental and conservation awareness\, stress management\, navigation\, standard and emergency procedures\, DPV maintenance and troubleshooting\, and the potential hazards of diving with a DPV. \nMORE INFORMATION ON TRAINING \n\nYour name (required)Your email (required)Send request to join a classThank you for your request. SUMMARY:Technical Diver 1 September 30-October 5th
DESCRIPTION:Summer 2024 Technical Diver 1\nLanguage: French & English\nLocation: Ontario/Quebec\, Canada \n\n\n \n\nThis class is available throughout the month upon request Contact mikep@wegodown.ca for details or submit your name and email in the form. \n\n\nYour name (required)Your email (required)Send request to join a classThank you for your request. We will contact you regarding available dates.×There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.×\n\nTECHNICAL DIVER 1\n\nWHY TAKE THIS COURSE?\n\n\n\nRecent increased ocean exploration at greater depths has revealed a variety of hidden treasures\, including deep pristine reefs\, well-preserved wrecks\, and valuable historical artifacts. However\, venturing deeper bears inherent risks that can be mitigated with proper training\, knowledge\, teamwork\, and gradual experience. \nThe GUE Tech 1 course prepares ambitious divers to begin their path to technical diving safely\, with confidence\, and with a base of solid skills and knowledge. This course also paves the way to GUE rebreather courses\, to advanced technical GUE training\, and to GUE project and exploration diving. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHO IS IT FOR?\n\nThe Technical Diver Level 1 course requires a certification at GUE Fundamentals level with technical certification requirements and a minimum of 100 experience dives. \nDivers embarking on a technical path must be prepared to handle emergencies and execute dives during which they will not be able to make a direct ascent due to decompression obligations. \nThis type of diving requires an increased level of physical fitness\, as there is more equipment to handle\, and decompression stress is increased. \n\nWHAT WILL I LEARN?\nCourse outcomes include\, but are not limited to: cultivating\, integrating\, and expanding the essential skills required for safe technical diving; identifying and resolving problems; using the double-tank configuration and addressing the potential failure problems associated with doing so; using nitrox for acceleration and general decompression strategies; using helium to minimize narcosis; and applying single decompression stage diving with respect to decompression procedures

It functions as a gateway into GUE training and it is an excellent way to personally experience what GUE is all about. \nSome divers use the Fundamentals course as a way to improve on the less-than-optimal training they have received during traditional fast-track entry-level courses. Others see the course as a ticket to participate in GUE projects and activities. Many technical divers and even experienced instructors from other organizations use the course to improve basic skills and gain access to GUE’s cave and tech-training. It is not uncommon to have divers with very diverse backgrounds in the same class\, which makes this course completely unique in the diving industry. Everybody will benefit\, regardless of their current level of certification or experience. Graduating this course with a pass is something to be proud of\, as the quality of a GUE Fundamentals diver is recognized all over the diving world.

SUMMARY:Underwater Photogrammetry
DESCRIPTION:Photogrammetry is a technic to model objects in three dimensions (3D) from photographs. The widespread availability of high-resolution digital photography combined with the astonishing power of personal computers make photogrammetry accessible to enthusiasts. When used underwater\, it effectively removes water surrounding the modelled object. This produces unparalleled view points\, especially in reduced visibility\, making it a fantastic way to share our passion. The presentation begins with an overview of the technique and its applications such as dive site documentation\, as a measurement too and as a sensational visualization. Then\, it introduces the 3D modelling process and covers the required skills\, the equipment necessary for creating models and basic notions for capturing images for underwater photogrammetry. \nSpace is limited. \nReservation is required. \nPlease contact us at 613 746 7866 or email sales@wegodown.ca
